Feed Trashie

Would you recycle more if you knew that every bottle you recycle supports a charity?

Trashie is hungry. He needs your plastic, metal, glass bottles!
Feed Trashie,
Support a Charity,
Save the Planet!

We recycle. We know the consequences of our actions and we do our part to reduce our ecological footprint. How about others? How about the other people who are too confused, unmotivated, or lazy to throw their plastic bottles into the recycle bins? How can we reach out to those people? Can we make recycling more fun and meaningful?

To find an answer, we went out to the New York City streets. We asked people the reasons of why they recycle...or not recycle. It was promising to see that many people do actually recycle. It's either because of a roommate who recycles, or to save the planet, all that matters is they do! When it comes to the rest, they are just too lazy to do it. Some people see it as a commitment problem - they told us they are not ready yet (!). Then, we asked them: would you recycle more if you knew that every bottle you recycle supports a charity? The answer was: YES!

So, we created a service that would give people motivation to recycle. Do you want to join us? Great! It's very simple - You can sign up on our website and we will send you the Trashie-Bin and then all you have to do is recycle! We will take care of the rest! We will arrange the pick-up trucks. The truck will collect the recycled materials daily/weekly/biweekly - depending on how hungry your trashie is! Then, we will deposit the bottles, collect the money, and donate it towards the charity of your choice! It's fresh, it's fun, it's for a good cause!

We also created a website. You can track the project status, learn more about us/organizations/charities, and check the amount of money collected. You can also vote monthly to select "the charity of the month", join the discussion boards to keep in touch with like-minded people. You can even compete with other office buildings/schools to win the "Trashie Award" of the month!
