Star Gazing Street

We want buildings to turn off their lights at night, so Londoners can enjoy a clear starry sky.

We want buildings to turn off their lights at night, so Londoners can enjoy a clear starry sky.

Postcards from the future (2015):

"Even though I’ve lived in London for 20 years, I never go out at night any more. Star Gazing Street helped me discover a new side of London, and meet new people… including my neighbors!"

"Star Gazing Street’s website is so cool. People upload their favorite photos of Star Gazing Street and you can find local get togethers to explore London at next month’s Star Gazing Street Festival."

"I feel like I’m helping to save energy just by taking a photo."

"We did it! Star Gazing Street Month 2015 saw over 250,000 Londoners and over 1000 businesses have signed up to be a part of Star Gazing Street since we started this in 2012. It was just about energy at first, but now it’s about London getting together."

------

Did you know that 40% of UK’s energy is consumed by buildings, and 23% of that is from lighting? Have you seen all the buildings that leave their lights on at night? What if we could make a dent in that?
